THE Blind Date results!
I know that the title isn't all that witty, but whatever. I didn't want to be misleading. I bet you all are raring to find out about the über-blind date! It was fun! He was normal, decent-looking, and fun to talk to. I think I opened up more, talked more than he did... but we are both the type that prefer to listen to other people, and that's a bad combination if you want to get to know someone. So I opened up. When I am in a comfort zone, I can be very gregarious, and I hope I didn't yammer on too much. He doesn't actually live in the area, but put the blind date ad out there to cut through the bs and make getting to know someone a sport. And I think it's a good experiment and a decent way to meet people. So anyway, I'm a few minutes late. Parking in this town is such a bitch! But I'm not too late; I suppose I was "fashionably late." Anyway, we get off to a pretty good start and have some pretty decent conversation. We talked about all kinds of things... family, relationships, religion, sex, dating, the Internet... it was fun and refreshing and I could feel myself smile. He did like the restaurant. He liked the decor, and he enjoyed the food too. I like Zaytinya a lot, it is one of my favorites in the city. I asked him what the place said about me, and he didn't think "uppity gold-digging bitch." Considering that we went dutch treat, the decor, and the kind of food... he could tell that money wasn't really an issue with me and that I like nice things, and that I'm somewhat adventurous. Pretty much a lot of things he guessed about me were dead on. I don't remember it all, as I'm trying to remember a lot of information. Plus, I am not so stuck on myself to remember all the good things he picked out. ;) I'm more concerned with remembering the tidbits about him - where he's from, what he does, how big his family is (and it's big), what he told me about his last serious relationship, the fact that he's also 29 but will soon be 30 next month....more important to remember that stuff than to pick out what he said about me. He's a pretty genuine guy, fun to talk to. I laughed and smiled a lot. He made it easy. He's mature, grounded. He's not religious in any sense, though - but he can appreciate my comfort with my religion. We wouldn't agree on that respect, but he's a kind of guy that I could agree to disagree with and get along just fine with. He's definitely good friend material. I wouldn't dream of a future with him, because I want someone that shares my religious values. But he's a good person and would be a good friend, and I wouldn't mind going out with him again. I asked him about the responses to his ad. He got maybe 2 or 3 responses to his ad, which is somewhat surprising since most men don't get replies to their ads. He is going out tomorrow with another gal to a different place (he didn't remember where offhand) but he looked the place up and it's more family-friendly. Kid-friendly in particular. rutroh, George! lol.... well, it was a good date, and I'm glad I took up the challenge. Oh, apparently, I'm the only one that followed directions - he said in his ad just to pick the place. This one woman was like, "how about coffee?" Um. He picked the time, you pick the place. I don't think she got a date. lol. I did feel a little sorry for her, as she obviously cared what he thought, since she asked.... My gf and I were joking today about what he'd look like. We guessed 5'7", blondish, and Jewish. lol... well he was more like 5'11", slim to athletic frame, not really blondish - maybe dark blonde or light golden brown closely cropped hair, light eyes - bluish or light greenish (hard to tell in the dim light). He also had facial hair - not a turnon for me, but it suited him. He's got a kind of rugged look. I tend to be a sucker for pretty boys like Sexy Alexei Nemov or Marian Dragulescu (:::drool:::). But rugged's not bad, either :) I gave him a lift back to his hotel in Arlington so that he could save the cab fare. No, you pervs, he stayed by himself. What kind of gal do you think I am??! lol. I mean, I'm home not long after 11.... and we met up around 8:45! lol. So all in all, it was a nice way to end the evening, and I am still smiling. Thank you, God, for all the little things that are good in this life.
