It's a Small World After All

Indeed it is. Tonight, I went ballroom dancing down in Fairfax, as usual. It was a nice time and helps to preserve my knowledge of the dances, although I'm not currently taking any actual lessons. It's also helping my following skills. But this entry isn't about me being able to get out in my sexy (and they are!) dancing shoes, it's what happened after coming home that is far more interesting. I turned to my trusty Craig's List to break my boredom. I post on the strictly platonic board, asking for someone who is willing to chat over the phone. The subject: "do you have a nice voice?" In the ad I ask for someone witty, intelligent, decently versed on numerous topics, and fun to talk to to buzz me if they wanted to chat over the phone. Totally non-sexual, just getting-to-know-you chat. Within a couple of minutes, I get an email from this guy. I give him my number, and he calls. We had a great conversation! We talked about all kinds of things, and it was just easy. He decides to take some risks and ask about my politics, and also about religion. "Controversial questions," he said. But I was cool with it. By the time the controversial questions came about, we'd already talked about our families, what we did, and how CL has been good to us. He's an even bigger CL poster child than I am, having bought far more things than me off of CL. Here is the kicker: it turns out that he's been going to my church! gasp!! I could have already met this guy and not known it. Small world, indeed! It was funny, he was a little freaked out that I was so close to home - it would have been easier if i was some detached chick up in Northwest Washington. Oh well. We got off the phone shortly before I started this entry. We both need to get up somewhat early to do stuff. But it's kind of cool that he "found" me - how likely is it that two people from the same church would run into each other randomly over the Internet? Life is funny sometimes. Funny, but good :)
