Divide and Conquer

This is the strategy that the dirty ass clown that is my boss used today. It's his tool of choice. He cornered me at the end of the day and started in to ask what's going on with me. Basically he started painting me as the disgruntled worker having a bad influence on everyone. He spews a ton of lies about the new guy, saying that it was the new guy that asked to be moved to the separate office (not true - we went to happy hour again and he was flabbergasted - he never said anything like that, he merely commented that he found it odd that 3 attorneys were sitting in the same room. I also gave him a good read of the depositions where dirty clown threw a previous subordinate under the bus and sold her downriver to cover his own incompetent ass. The new guy came up with some ideas of CYA measures as to how we can cover ourselves in case of such incidents.) He then changed his story about why we can't go to lunch, saying that the malpractice insurance policy would be violated if all the attorneys are out of the office for more than an hour. Huh? What if we were all in court? He also played the admin card, saying that they don't want to get in the middle of communications between us. He also said that one of them told him that I was not to be trusted. Truth is, he has been skulking around the office trying to eavesdrop on people. He probably heard me spouting some shit off and then cornered the admin folks, and then made up a ton of stuff. He told me about how he might fire the other attorney (not the new guy) if her attitude doesn't change (funny, he hasn't said a word to her about her attitude). And he didn't want me to tell her about it. He kept going on about how my billables were in the toilet, forgetting that he gave me a bunch of shit cases. I know the inventory of cases, and taking on others' only shifts columns. If he has new cases that he's sitting on, letting the fucking statute of limitations run, then he is doing a disservice by not manning up and just giving out a fucking case. I recited to him at least a dozen cases of mine where I am waiting for stuff to happen. That is about half of my caseload. He still hasn't figured out that this business is not a million-dollar revenue business, and that these shit cases won't drive 130 hours per month. These are not research-intensive cases! I am never going to make the hours unless the cases are more active, in terms of hearings, pleadings due, and deadlines. Only when you are divorced from reality, my hours are unreasonably low. Truth is, I am pacing myself - I have no crazy deadlines, and I am on top of all of my cases. If you are results-oriented, I am fine. He must think I am stupid... that we all are stupid. His passive-aggressive bullshit and lies are incredible. I am just doing my best to get the hell out. Something has to happen soon...
