Breaking Silence

Last night was good. I finally was able to talk to my sister. We had tried to talk in the last couple of weeks, but had ended up playing a protracted game of phone tag. We finally got to connect last night. We didn't discuss the big 800 pound gorilla in the room (the reasons behind our lack of contact for the last 3 months). But my nephew's birthday is coming up next week and I needed to find him an appropriate gift and it made for a great reason to call. So we caught up a bit, and that was good. I'm glad that the ice is broken. I hope to leave that period behind for good. My small group also had a sleepover party. We played this game called Cranium, which is a pretty cool game that uses several different methods to advance. We also watched Along Came Polly and Ocean's Eleven. Mmmm, so many beautiful men in Ocean's Eleven. A perfect flick for a girl's night. :) Also, the bar exam results came out for Maryland. One of my friends passed, another one didn't. :( I felt bad for calling her, but I had every faith that she would pass. Fortunately, she's handling it well. And lastly, I read this column in the Washington Post where this woman (Democrat) was voicing some frustration over her husband being in a different political party than she is (Republican). She loves him, but is starting to see him as "the enemy." What. The. Fuck. People?! He is the same as he was before the election. I understand that politics is important to people, but is it something that people should allow to get between them? I don't think so. Do you throw away a family and a partner just because they think the government should stay out of our lives and people should take more responsibility for themselves? Or the opposite? God, I am so happy that I'm not a party hack.
