Showdown

Yesterday we had a huge showdown at work. One of the attorneys quit and told our boss a little bit about himself. He was setting her up for failure on Monday - his ass was going to be in Jamaica while she'd be stuck with the start of a 2-day jury trial! He hasn't admitted that, but we know it's true - we saw the new itinerary he had when he couldn't leave the country yesterday morning! Asshat. She called him out for doing unprofessional, unethical things, and she wasn't having any more of it. He's not a mentor. She quit and walked out. He then comes to me and the other attorney, stunned. He plays the victim, asking if he's blind and couldn't see. He continues to try to blame something on her, when he's the lead attorney on all the cases. One of the problems is that his priorities are wacked because he's so fucking lazy. We let him know that sometimes his priorities are wrong (but didn't air the fact that he's fucking lazy). Throughout the whole thing he was unwilling to take any responsibility for anything. The time is soon coming when all of this won't matter. The firm is sinking fast, and I don't see our boss keeping his license much longer. Or his freedom, but that's another story for another day...
