co·nun·drum Pronunciation Key (k-nndrm)
n.
1. A riddle in which a fanciful question is answered by a pun.
2. A paradoxical, insoluble, or difficult problem; a dilemma: “the conundrum, thus far unanswered, of achieving full employment without inflation” (Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.).
Here is my conundrum, in the second sense of the word:
Where the hell am I going to go for New Year's Eve?
I've been here 2 months and haven't gone out. When I did, it was back down in Washington at a place I could trust for decent dancing space and a nice mix of people.
So I started looking around on the web to start finding some decent places in this city. I don't feel like spending an arm and a leg, but I want to get gussied up and enjoy my youth while I still have it. Plus, a friend of mine might come up here for the new year - us girls need a good place to cut a rug! Too much to do in too little time, I fear, to find a place that won't make me cranky on the best night of the year!
I guess I still have some more work to do. I have a couple of places in mind, but... hell, without going, there is no way to know what the crowd is like!
Sigh.
Too much work...

Sounds nice... maybe if I decide to go back to DC for New Year's, I'll do it.

Many moons ago, I decided to be the kissing bandit for New Years. There are always available men who wouldn't mind smooching a cutie. I lined them up, and gave them a number. They stood there and waited their turn.
#11 was my favorite. #12 passed out.

I have a standing joke, sadly, about me and New Years Eve that even when I am dating someone, I still don't have a date. I invariably end up dating someone who has to work that night. This year is no exception. Being single and alone on NYE is alot better than not being able to be with the person you love on that night.
