The Advantage

For a new attorney like myself, inclined as I am to just learn, in a firm such as mine, one of the advantages of being the only other person to have knowledge of a desperately nasty case is this: when the other attorney has to go elsewhere, you get to pick up the slack. I have a deposition to go to tomorrow - by myself. Yeah! Many of my peers would cringe and freak out. Not all, but many. I'm kind of enjoying it. Had I not been the only other person to get thigh-deep in the goings-on of this case, I wouldn't be going, and it would be yet another day in the office. But it's not! Tomorrow I'll be down near Wall Street among the various and numerous parties to listen in and watch over our client's interest. We're talking about massive money at stake, in the millions. Boo-frickin'-yaaa. As such, this is an early night and I need a good night's sleep so I can deal with tomorrow. Até logo.

  • So what exactly is an objection to the form?

  • Good luck ;) ...(albeit a little late)

  • Deposition went well. There was some drama and plaintiff's counsel went a tad 'batshit crazy' but all is well. :)

Dan: they don't like the way the question is structured. May be confusing, compound, or possibly overly broad, beyond the scope of the case, or something like that.

Sethro: thanks, luv. All good wishes are appreciated! Even late. :)

  • yeah, it was always fun getting frantic calls from counsel in the judge's chambers complaining about opposing counsel's behavior. you'd put them on hold just long enough for them to work it out after implying that the judge isn't going to be too happy about being bothered by such stupid antics.

depositions, i guess, bring out the worst in folks.

  • The worst? Hmm... I dunno, but maybe...

Plaintiff's counsel was trying to push his vision of the situation on me, but it was just saber-rattling, especially since it wasn't my case. When we talked to the judge, she saw reason. She's very practical. ;)
