The Emancipation of Siryn
I caved in and bought The Emancipation of Mimi. Ever since Mariah Carey tricked herself out and lost her g-d mind (circa Butterfly), I hadn't bothered to buy an album. But this album? Something just connected, and it was good. I think it was It's Like That - the anthem of a strong woman letting go and having fun, reaching her slice of nirvana on the dance floor while the DJ keeps on spinnin' the cut.
Cause it's my night No stress, no fights I'm leavin' it all behind No tears, no time to cry Just making the most of lifeYeah, girl. Something about that bridge just clicks with me and lifts my spirits immensely. Maybe because that is how I long to feel. This ol' girl needs her dancin'! Listening to the album in its entirety, there is obvious filler the deeper you get in, but at least it's decent filler. But the first 5 or so tracks are simply awesome. And that one with Nelly toward the end is pretty good too. I'll listen more closely to the other stuff, but for now I'm happy with the purchase.

Mariah is back. She's still bat-sh*t crazy, but she's back.

Yeah, she's back all right. I think she's a little LESS batshit crazy, but this was a GOOD album. It's good for a long drive.
