Siryn's Song

People Are Dumb. Sometimes.

This is one of them. Marty Casey ended up in the bottom 3 on Rock Star: INXS. W. T. F.?!?! And adding insult to injury, Jordis wasn't in the bottom 3, despite making ears bleed across the world with her horrendous rendition of Aerosmith's Dream On. Deanna paid the price for Jordis' musical indiscretion. Deanna isn't right for INXS, but I think she's been more consistent in her performances than Jordis. Eh. The world will go on. Of course, my silly self went out again for happy hour and expected to be home in time to watch the show. Guess what didn't happen?! I came home just in time to see Marty get his standing ovation from the crowd and INXS. Great. Thank God for Internet video, because I'll get to see the video of him rockin' the house. Go Marty! P.S. I'm on a little John Lennon kick today, since the term "starting over" stuck in my head and conjured up the song. Marty would probably kill the crowd with a subtly powerful performance of Imagine or Woman. I'll just add that to my wish list of songs I'd like to see covered.

  • It was good for Marty to have to do an INXS song. Having never been in the bottom three they hadn't gotten a chance to hear him do their stuff yet. There was no way they were going to cut him, so actually I think it was a good thing.

  • So I've heard!

I take it that the standing ovation from everyone was a good sign, and a shot in the arm for people whose faith in Marty's abilities to be more than an angry, angsty screamer were waning.

I'll look at it a little more positively. :) I'm really just irked that Jordis didn't make it into the bottom 3. That was total crap.

  • The nation rewarded her for going for it. I guess it could be worth a free pass. An old band instructor used to say "if you're going to make a mistake, make it loud." This fell in that world I think.

I don't think you get that do-over more than once though.

  • She's gotten that do-over twice!

Her rendition of Layla blew chunks.

She is skating by, but she can't hide for long.
